Corporation Blog

A well known corporation called Chick-fil-A well known for their original recipe of the chicken sandwiches is always closed on Sundays. According to their website, “closing on Sundays so that he and his employees could set aside one day to rest and worship if they choose – a practice we uphold today.” (https://www.chick-fil-a.com/about/who-we-are). They value worship for themselves and their employees if they choose to do so. They are clearly deeply rooted in their religious beliefs and have made many donations to religious organizations and have started off as a small diner run by two brothers to a corporation with fast food restaurants all over the US making millions annually. Chick-fil-A has always made it a point to treat their customers with generosity from saying “ my pleasure instead of “you’re welcome” and generally going the extra mile to treat their, “customers like friends, or serving our communities like neighbors” (https://www.chick-fil-a.com/about/giving-back). However, Chick-fil-A is also known for making contributions to anti- LGBTQ organizations and since that information was released the company said they would stop donating to organizatoons that are anti- LGBTQ in 2020. But only agreed to change their philosophy. According to a Vox article, “Chick-fil-A never explicitly said it would permanently stop donating to…organizations that discriminate against LGBTQ people — it just said it was changing its philanthropic giving model… ‘No organization will be excluded from future consideration–faith-based or non-faith-based,’ Chick-fil-A President and COO Tim Tassopoulos said in a statement to VICE.” (https://www.vox.com/the-goods/2019/5/29/18644354/chick-fil-a-anti-gay-donations-homophobia-dan-cathy). Although their corporation didn’t lose many customers from donating to such organizations they receive bad PR according to the same Vox article. Personally though I would have to say that my friends and myself have been boycotting Chick-fil-A since. Furthermore, throughout the years Chick-fil-A has seen a significant amount of donations from the republican party and a lower amount of donations from people of the democratic party, but after stating that they would change their philosophy due to the bad publicity of donating to anti- LGBTQ organizations the donation in 2020 have mostly been from the democratic party and a lower amount from the republican party. Overall, Chick-fil-A is a well known religious rooted million dollar corporation with several fast foods restaurant’s around the US and continues to thrive despite their past donations to organizations that express anti-LGBTQ practices.
